November 23, 2019 – Bangkok, Thailand

Honorable Chief Justices,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

Welcome to tonight’s gala dinner. We are here to celebrate the longstanding friendship, and the flourishing partnership, between Judiciaries in ASEAN. I would like to thank you all for the excellent support and cooperation in our CACJ meeting.

Behind the success of the CACJ meeting and the event tonight, I owe my profound gratitude and sincere thanks to all members of organizing team, especially Justice Metinee Chalodhorn, Vice-President of the Supreme Court of Thailand. Could you please show up?

May I also take this chance to introduce to you another key person who supports the administrative function of the court of justice, Secretary-General Sarawut Benjakul, Secretary-General of the Office of the Judiciary.

Both of them and their teams have tremendously contributed to the success of this memorable event.

We have reached the end of our 7th CACJ meeting. It is time to close the door on lively and stimulating debate, as well as to bid farewell to our friends. It is a privilege and an honor to be entrusted with such an undertaking to host the meeting.

It is also the privilege and honor for us to have your presence here tonight at the Supreme Court of Thailand. This is the first time for us to organize and host a special dinner at the Supreme Court and I hope that you will enjoy tonight’s events.

This year marks the 137th anniversary of modern Thai judiciary. Your presence here is really meaningful as this will become one of the most significant years in the Thai judicial history.

On behalf of the Supreme Court of Thailand, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to you all for taking time out of your busy duties to attend the meeting and to be our guests of honor for the event here. I wish you all a safe journey home.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I look forward to seeing you again in 2020 in Vietnam, when we shall reconvene to exchange our wisdom for the best interests of our judiciaries. I wish you will fly back home safely with fond memories. May I invite all of you to join me in a toast to the future prosperity of all ASEAN Judiciaries.

Thank you.
