Objectives

Deploying a distinctive pedagogy, this 2-day programme first identifies the challenges in assessing the credibility of witnesses and introduces to participants a defensible and principled approach to undertake such assessments.

It will feature:

  • Identifying traps and pitfalls, including heuristics and biases
  • Science of deception and detecting deception
  • Practice class on assessing the credibility of witnesses
  • Suggested framework for assessing witness credibility
  • Group work, discussion and presentation on case study
  • Discussion with Senior Faculty on how judges find facts and analysis of case study
