The Council of ASEAN Chief Justices (“CACJ”) is pleased to announce that the Chief Justice of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, The Honourable Chief Justice Afonso Carmona, is admitted as the newest member to the Council with effect from 16 February 2026.
The inclusion of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste marks an important milestone for the CACJ. It reflects CACJ’s shared commitment to strengthening judicial collaboration, fostering regional solidarity among ASEAN judiciaries, and upholding the rule of law in ASEAN.
The CACJ extends its warmest congratulations to The Honourable Chief Justice Afonso Carmona, and looks forward to contributions from and further engagement with the judiciary of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
