The 10th Meeting of the Council of ASEAN Chief Justices (the “CACJ“), and the Inaugural ASEAN+3 Meeting took place on 4 and 5 November 2022 respectively.
The Malaysian Judiciary hosted both meetings at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. For the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chief Justices, Heads of Delegations, and senior judicial officials of the ASEAN Judiciaries were able to meet in-person.

At the 9th CACJ Meeting in 2021, the CACJ acknowledged the work of the Working Group on Cross-Border Disputes Involving Children as regards its adoption of the Enhanced Common Procedure and Code of Ethics for mediators, at paragraph 8 of the Jakarta Declaration.

The Council of ASEAN Chief Justices (CACJ) welcomes the New President of the People’s Supreme Court of Lao People’s Democratic Republic, The Hon. Mrs. Viengthong Siphandone, to the CACJ. The Hon. Mrs. Viengthong Siphandone has been appointed as the New President of the People’s Supreme Court since March 3, 2021. The Council of ASEAN Chief Justices (CACJ) welcomes President of the Supreme Court of Thailand, The Honorable Chief Justice Piyakul Boonperm, to the CACJ. The Honorable Chief Justice Piyakul Boonperm was appointed the President of the Supreme Court of Thailand with effect from 1 October 2021.
The CACJ expresses its deep appreciation for the contributions of former President of the Supreme Court of Thailand, Metinee Chalodhorn, to the work of the CACJ in advancing the Rule of Law within ASEAN.

The 9th Meeting of the Council of ASEAN Chief Justices (the “Council”) took place on 7 October 2021.
The Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia hosted the meeting virtually, due to the prevailing COVID-19 conditions, with His Excellency Dato Lim Jock Hoi, the Secretary-General of ASEAN attending the Opening Session by invitation.

The Judicial Training Center of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia will be organising an online workshop titled “Towards Climate Justice: Challenge, Strategy and Future Trend in Climate Change Adjudication”. During the 8th CACJ Meeting, the CACJ agreed pursuant to Article 11 of the Hanoi Declaration for the Working Group on Judicial Education and Training to identify new ways of conducting training and education programs. On 7 September 2021, the Working Group on Judicial Education and Training hosted a webinar for participants from across the ASEAN judiciaries.
