Last week, the ASEAN judiciaries gathered at The Westin, Kuala Lumpur for the CACJ Working Week 2026 (26 to 29 April 2026), bringing together judges and legal experts from the ASEAN region for four days of substantive dialogue and collaboration.
The Working Week kicked off with a series of HCCH Masterclasses covering selected Hague Conventions, including The 1961 Hague Convention on Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents and The 2005 Hague Convention on Choice of Court Agreements.
Over the course of the week, 223 delegates participated in more than ten working group and specialised meetings:
- Meeting of the Working Group on Climate Justice;
- Meeting of the Working Group on Civil Proceedings;
- Meeting of the Working Group on Case Management and Court Technology;
- Meeting of the Working Group on the Conduct of Videoconferencing Hearings;
- The 4th ASEAN Family Judges’ Forum;
- Meeting of the Working Group on ASEAN+ Meetings;
- Judges’ Meeting on the Nature and Status of Digital and Other Virtual Assets;
- Meeting of the Working Group on Judicial Education and Training;
- Meeting of the Working Group on the ASEAN Judiciaries Portal;
- Meeting of the Working Group on Cross-Border Disputes Involving Children;
- ASEAN Intellectual Property Judges Meeting; and
- ASEAN Insolvency Judges Meeting.
The delegates also attended a Welcome Dinner held at the Palace of Justice, Putrajaya, hosted by the Chief Justice of Malaysia, The Right Honourable Datuk Seri Utama Wan Ahmad Farid bin Wan Salleh.
The Working Week concluded on 29 April 2026 as the delegates departed with new insights, strengthened partnerships, and renewed commitment to advancing the administration of justice across ASEAN.
