Objectives
Judgment writing and the delivery of judgments are key aspects of judicial work. When judges communicate their decisions clearly through their judgments, the parties and the public are better able to appreciate the reasons for judicial decisions.
This 3-day programme will feature:
- Writing for the audience and "Context First" writing
- How to write an effective introduction and conclusion to a judgment
- How to organise the body of a judgment and the issues-based approach
- How to combat writer's block
- Drafting class to practise writing a judgment on assessment of witness credibility
- Clinic on delivering oral judgments
